This class is designed for beginners and hobbyists. Topics include: latest material technology, types of mold designs, handling of materials, release agents, casting choices, and finishing parts. A mold and casting of a typical clock case part will be made and the students can bring parts they need to cast.  The materials shown will make multiple castings. The instructor will contact students before the class and bring molds of pieces they need if available.  Some ornamental molds will be brought by the instructor and students will paint these to have a finished product. A beginners kit is available with 1 quart of mold and cast material with all the other chemicals required as well as an instructional  DVD for the students to take home to continue efforts at a cost of $60. The kits must be ordered before the class.

All materials needed for the workshop will be supplied.

This workshop will be held on Saturday and Sunday from 9a.m. to 5p.m at the NAWCC School of Horology. This includes two 15-minute breaks and 1 hour for lunch.
