About the Cover
On the front cover, the Devereux Bowly watch which is discussed by Ted Crom on page 30 of this issue. The silver pair-cased watch, ca. 1730-35, was made by the English watch master with a "Lancashire movement." Its history is traced by a series of watch papers, which show date of repairs, various owners' names and other early information. A complete description of this beautiful watch is aptly done by Mr. Crom. Photo by Sherman Howe, Gully Road, Woodstock, VT. |
