Progress Reporting
Student's progress reporting and evaluation is equally based upon the Instructor's observations, the quality of the techniques performed, and written tests. At the completion of each course, the Instructor will issue a grade report to each student. The evaluating standards are as follows: | PERCENTAGE | LETTER | | 94% & above | A | | 88%-93% | B | | 82%-87% | C | | 75%-81% | D | | 74% & below | F |
Make-up work for missed class lectures or lab time will
be left to the discretion of the Instructor. When students fail to finish
class work, or withdraw from a course, an I (Incomplete) or a W (Withdrawal)
will be given as the course grade. A student having an incomplete grade,
has until the next scheduled course to submit completed assignments. After
this time frame, the incomplete grade becomes an F, the student must
withdraw from the program with no credit given or repeat the course in order
to advance to the next level.
Student evaluations are conducted after each course; at
one-week intervals for the Clock Repair Program and at two-week intervals
for the Watch Repair Program. Students enrolled in either program must
achieve at least a 75% grade average by the first quarter, a 79% grade
average by the 2nd quarter and an 82% grade average by graduation. In the
event a student fails to meet this standard of achievement, the student will
be given the opportunity of repeating the failing courses as well as the
testing procedure to receive a new grade based upon a 100% equivalent or
they may accept the failing grade and withdraw.
Students wishing to remain Title IV eligible must
maintain satisfactory academic progress as determined by the school’s
Progress Reporting Policy.
Reinstatement for either of the repair programs must be
at the request of the student to the School Director provided the student
has taken the initial responsibility of repeating the failed course. Cost
incurred for repeated courses due to grade failure, will be at the student’s
expense should the decision for continuance in the program occur. The
decision for reinstatement will be decided after full review of the
student’s evaluation and progress reports, and if it is in the best interest
for the student’s continuation in the program. However, this factor will be
determined prior to the student repeating the initially failed course. In
the event it is determined that the student’s interest will best be served
by termination from the program, the student has the right to appeal the
Director’s decision. The matter may be discussed with the CEO of the
NAWCC. In the event the prior decision of the Director remains enforced,
the student may then appeal to the Pennsylvania State Board of Private
Licensed Schools, (address appears on page 19). This institution requires
written documentation for appealing such matters, and the student must show
justification for the appeal. |
