WS-106: Flat Polishing Watch Parts

Course Dates: Saturday September 20, 2008

Often when servicing a watch the individual parts need to be polished.  Any part that is fabricated also must be polished to match the rest of the movement.  This 1-day workshop teaches the techniques of flat polishing watch parts.  The contents of the class will cover:

  • Removal of rust from parts
  • Flat polishing to remove pits
  • Restoring original luster
  • Use of simple hand tools
  • Restoration techniques

At the end of the workshop the students will be able to return old rusted parts to a high luster by the using simple hand tools.

All needed materials will be supplied although students may bring their own projects.

The workshop will be held at the NAWCC School of Horology from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  There will be two 15-minute breaks and a 1½ hours for lunch.

Everyone is welcome to participate, although some experience in the maintenance of watches is helpful.

For additional information contact Katie Knaub at the NAWCC School of Horology: 717-684-8261, ext. 237.
