WS-108: Watch Case Polishing for the Beginner

Course Dates: September 14, 2008

Cleaning and maintaining the watches in a collection is a major part of the collecting process.  Quite often the watch cases are dull and dirty.  In this 1-day workshop you will learn the basics of polishing a watch case.  Areas to be covered include:

  • Identification of case materials
  • Polishing compounds
  • Polishing tools
  • Polishing techniques
  • Overview of supply houses
  • Review of reference material

This is a hands-on workshop that will teach participants the proper method to clean and polish pocket watch and wristwatch cases.  All materials and equipment will be supplied, but the students may bring their own watches.

Although the workshop is structured for the beginner, advanced collectors are also welcome

The 1-day workshop will be held at the NAWCC School of Horology from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  This includes two 15-minute breaks and 1½ hours for lunch.

For additional information contact Katie Knaub at the NAWCC School of Horology: 717-684-8261, ext. 237.
