The National Watch and Clock Museum Library and Research Center is one of the largest horological libraries in the world. Housed within the Watch and Clock Museum, the collection consists of over 30,000 books, catalogs, and periodicals dealing with all aspects of the study of time and timekeeping.
Special collections material includes 21,000 American patents; postcards dealing with horological subjects; postal stamps showing timekeeping devices; ledgers and drawings from the Hamilton Watch Company; the Whitaker Westclox collection; and the personal papers of such noted horologists as Jesse Coleman, Orville Hagans, Barclay Stephens, Robert Franks, James W. Gibbs, Albert Potter, and Charles Alvah Smith.

BORROWERS PLEASE NOTE
When searching the Library and Research Center catalog please note that books (and videos) may be borrowed ONLY if the "Location" is "Lending" and not "Library & Research Center." Items that show "Library and Research Center" are available only at the Library and may not be borrowed. To display the Location when using the on-line catalog click on "Copies" on the right side of the listing returned by your search. You may then return to the list of books by clicking on "Show Results" at the bottom of the screen. Books with "Spec" at the beginning of the catalog number are in the Special Collection and may not be borrowed; they must be requested and viewed at the Library & Research Center. NAWCC Bulletin articles are not included in this Library and Research Center data. The Bulletin index is available for searching here.

Bulletins A fantastic amount of information on clocks, watches, and other timepieces, and their makers, can be obtained from the NAWCC Bulletins. In order to consult the online Bulletin index, simply go to the NAWCC “Bulletin Index Search” and proceed to conduct your searches there. Please note, however, that some articles listed there have not been scanned; therefore, you will have to provide the issue and page numbers (last two columns showing on the Bulletin Index listings) whenever photocopies or digital scans are requested. |
