American-Style Time/Strike Movement

American-Style Time/Strike Movement Workshop

Description: This three-day workshop will focus on disassembly and reassembly of the classic American-style time/strike movement—the “bread and butter” of many clock repair centers. The movement will be separated into its component parts, and participants will work with the time train, the strike train, and finally complete the assembly of the movement. The movement will also be put “into beat.” Additionally, cleaning techniques and lubrication methods will be discussed.

Tools: The movement and basic hand tools will be provided. Please bring your own binocular magnifier (visor), watchmaker loupe or similar device, and safety glasses for mainspring servicing. If you don’t have a magnifier visor or safety glasses, they will be provided for you.
